Communication system of Data Center

Figure 1 shows general scheme of communication system in Data Center at the beginning of year 2005. Data transmission system in Center for Acquisition and Processing of Special Seismic Information consists of three main networks.

1. Proper data transmission network of IGR NNC RK.
Its main operating elements are the following satellite communication channels:
Borovoye - Data Centre (Almaty) and Kurchatov - Data Centre (Almaty) (Figure 2)
These are Hughes satellite station of TRES type. Channel capacity is 2 in 32 kbit/second.
They are intended for data transmission from large aperture array in Borovoye (Chkalovo, Zerenda, Vostochniy) (Figure 3) , from IRIS network stations located in Borovoye and in Kurchatov.

2. Satellite network of data transmission supported by USA National Data Center (Figure 4) .
Technical support for network is provided by AIS Engineering Company. This network includes 5 satellite stations located at Karatayu, Makanchi, Borovoye, Akbulak seismic stations and at Data Center in Almaty. Satellite stations of iDirect type with channel width of 64 kbit/second are used in this network for each station. System of monitoring for satellite stations operation and communication channels operations is located in Data Center in Almaty.

3. Satellite network supported by International Data Center PTS CTBTO located in Vienna.
This network consists of 4 satellite stations located at Makanchi (PS23), Aktyubinsk (IS31), Borovoye AS057 stations and in Data Center in Almaty. This network operates within Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty ratified by Kazakhstan in 2004. Station techniques are satellite stations of PES 5000 type of Hughes Company.

Kazakhstan Data Center exchange data with various international and Kazakhstan Centers such as USA National Data Center, International Data Center in Vienna, IRIS, US Geological Survey (Albuquerque), Center of Geophysical Survey of RAS, Institute of Seismology and Seismological Experimental and Methodical Expedition MES RK, European Mediterranean Data Center in Paris (France), International Seismological Center in England.
