On December 22, at 11:54 by Astana time (05:54 by GMT) a large chemical explosion was conducted in Kyrgyzstan with the aim to create a dam at Kambartinskaya Hydroelectric power station-2. According to news agency "24 kg" explosive mass was 3 thousand tons. The Minister for Energetics - Ilyas Davydov reported the large scale explosion was conducted according to scenario planned by specialists. This explosion was recorded by all stations of NNC RK network. 15 minutes later after the explosion preliminary coordinates of the event were received and its magnitude was estimated. The results of CAPSSI NNC RK analysts work were automatically transferred to European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (http://www.emsc-csem.org/) and were shown on the web-site of this Center. According to seismic data this explosion has the following coordinates: 41.84 N, 73.27 E. Magnitude is mb - 5.3, energy class - 11. The explosion was conducted 28 km away from Toktogul town (see the map).

On January 31, 2008 at 05 h 51 min by Astana time (January 30, 2008 at 05 h 51 min GMT) there was an earthquake on the territory of Kazakhstan, 35 km southward from Taldy-Kyurgan town (see the map).
According to automatic processing data of the Data Center IGR NNC RK the epicenter coordinates are:
44.70 N,
78.19 E,

magnitude md - 4.2
magnitude MPV - 4.0,
energy class - 9.9.
The earthquake was felt in Taldy-Kyurgan with force of 3.
On January 30, 2008 at 02 h 02 minutes by Astana time, (on January 29, 2008 at 20 h 02 minutes GMT) there was an earthquake in the east of Kazakhstan. According to auomatic data processing of Data Center of IGR NNC RK the coordinates of the epicenter are 49,76 N, 83,50 E. Magnitude MPV is 5,3, magnitude MS is 5,1 , energy class is 12,3. The earthquake was felt in a number of settlements. Shock of force 4 was felt at Ust-Kamenogorsk, 5 at Zyryanovsk, 3-4 at Kurchatov, 3 at Ridder. Predicted intensity in the epicenter is of force 6. Information is being precised (see the map).
On January 1, 2008 at 12 h 32 minutes by Astana time (6h 32 minutes GMT) there was an earthquake with the epicenter on the territory of Kyrgyzstan. The epicenter coordinates are 40,11 N, 72,83 E, magnitude MS is 5.8, energy class - 12.8. The earthquake was felt in a number of Fergana Valley settlements as well as on the territory of Kazakhstan at Taraz (of force 3) and Shymkent (of force 3) towns.

On December 30, 2007 at 03 h 27 minutes by Astana time (December 29, 2007 at 21 h 27 minutes GMT) there was an earthquake on the border of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, about 35 km southward from Almaty (see the map).

Almaty. December, 26. "Kazakhstan Today" - Ministry of Emergency Management of Kyrgyzstan was set in advanced readiness due to an earthquake happened at Osh region, according to the Agency referred to Kyrgyz news agency. According to MEM KR alarm response forces were sent to the emergency situation region for preliminary investigation of the territory. Response forces consisted of experts from Monitoring and emergency situations prediction Department, psychologists, rescue team, representatives of fire department.
Today, at 10.45 local time, there was an earthquake in the south of Kyrgyzstan. The epicenter was in Altay region, 25 km from Osh and 280 km from Bishkek. The earthquake was felt with force of 6 - 6,5. The shocks were also felt in Kokbel village with force of 6,5, Kyrgyzata and Karabash villages with force of 6, Osh town with force of 5, Kyzylkiya village with force of 5, Sufi-Kurgan with force of 4, Djalalabad with force of 3-4, Karasu with force of 4. According to preliminary information there are no victims and destructions. The information is being precised. In the last year at the same day there was an earthquake in Kochkor region of Naryn area with force of 7 on the Richter scale caused large destructions.
On November 7, 2007 at 09:38 by GMT (15:38 by Astana local time) there was an earthquake on the territory of Kazakhstan, about 50 km south-west from Shymkent town (see the map).
The earthquake epicenter coordinates are:

magnitude MPV - 4.82,
energy class - 10.97.
The earthquake was felt in Shymkent with force of 2-3. After the main event there was a small shock at the same place.
On October 9, 2007 at 22:00 by Astana local time (16 h 00 min by GMT) there was an earthquake on the territory of Kazakhstan, about 72 km eastward from Almaty (see the map).

The largest earthquakes at Sumatra Island (Indonesia) region (see the map)

On September 12, at 11.10.23,8 by UTC there was a disastrous earthquake at Sumatra (Indonesia) Island region. Its magnitude was MS = 8,3. Immediately after the earthquake there were many aftershocks. The largest of them was in about 12 hours after the main shock, its energy was equal to the energy of the first shock (magnitude MS=7,9). NNC RK stations continue to records events from this region.
Remember that in December 2004 there was a disastrous earthquake with magnitude more than 8 at the same region followed by large tsunami and thousands victims.

On September 2, 2007 at 21 h 30 min by Astana local time (15 h 30 min by GMT) there was an earthquake on the territory of Kazakhstan, about 193 km north-east from Almaty and 34 km from Taldy-Kurgan town. The epicenter coordinates are: 44,74 N, 78,15 E, magnitude MPV - 5.53, energy class - 12.40. The earthquake was felt in Almaty with force of 3.
On July 20 at 16 h 07 min by Astana local time there was an earthquake on the territory of China at about 150 km eastward from Narynkol. The epicenter coordinates are: 43.1 N, 81.99 E. The earthquake magnitude was MPV=5.7, Ms=5.0, energy class K=13.8. The earthquake was felt in Almaty with force of 2-3.
On June 7, 2007 at 15 h 26 min by Astana local time (in 09.26 GMT) there was an earthquakein Kazakhstan. According to data of IGR NNC RK its epicenter was at east Kazakhstan region on the border with Russia, 40 km away from Zyryanovsk town. The epicenter coordinates are: 50,11 N,
84,36 E; depth is 5 km; magnitude 4,2; energy class is 9,8. The earthquake was felt in Zyryanovsk with force of 3-4, in Ridder with force of 3. Calculated intensity in the epicenter is 4 -5.
On June 6, 2007 at 17 h 09 min by Astana local time (11.09 GMT) there was an earthquake on the territory of Kyrgyzstan, 150 km south-west from Almaty. The nearest settlement to the epicenter is Tokmak. According to CAPSSI IGR NNC RK data the epicenter coordinates are 42,69 N; 75,35 E; depth is 5 - 10 km ; magnitude MPV - 5.4, energy class - 11.8. The earthquake was felt in Almaty with force of 3, calculated intensity in the epicenter is 6.
On January 8, 2007 at 23 h 21 min by Almaty local time (January 8, 17:21 GMT) there was an earthquake. Its epicenter was on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The earthquake parameters are: origin time 17h 21 min; latitude 39, 89; longitude 70,10; magnitude mb=6,28 mpv=6.48; energy class ë=13.9
On December 26, 2006 at 02 h 01 min by local time (December 25, 20 h 01 min GMT) there was an earthquake with the epicenter on the territory of Kyrgyzstan, 146 km south-west from Almaty. The earthquake parameters are: origin time 20 h 01 min, latitude 42,10; longitude 76,03; magnitude mb=5,95 mpv=5.9 ms=5.78; energy class ë=14.2. The earthquake was felt in Almaty with force of 4-5.
On December 21, 2006 at 05 h 12 min by local time (December 20, 23 h 12 min GMT) there was an earthquake with the epicenter on the territory of Kyrgyzstan, 140 km south-east from Almaty. Earthquake parameters are: origin time is 23 h 12 min; latitude is 42,24; longitude is 78,03; magnitude is mb=5.0; energy class is K=10.2.
On November 23, 2006 at 17 h 04 min by local time (11 h 04 min GMT) there was an earthquake on the territory of China. Its epicenter was 137 km south-west from Kuldja town, and 488 km north-east from Almaty. The earthquake parameters are: origin time is 11h 04 min 52 sec; latitude is 44,54; longitude is 82,77; magnitude mpv=4,89; energy class is ë=12.8.
On November 20, at 21 h 37 min by local time (15 h 37 min GMT) there was an earthquake on the territory of Kazakhstan. Its epicenter was 28 km south-east from Almaty. The earthquake parameters are: origin time is 15 h 37 min, latitude is 43,4; longitude is 76.8; magnitude mpv=3,55; energy class is K=8.22. The earthquake was felt in Almaty with force of 2.

Its epicenter was in Kyrgyzstan, 37 km southward from Tokmak town, and 144 km south-west from Almaty. Its epicenter was in north branch of Aktynemel mountain ridge, the nearest settlement is Kyugaly. The epicenter coordinates are: latitude is 44.45, longitude is 78.39.
